Information for authors planning to submit papers to AUTOTESTCON 2013:

The 2012 edition of IEEE AUTOTESTCON, held in September in Anaheim CA at the Disneyland Resort & Conference Center, is now behind us. The organizers wish to express our sincere appreciation to all authors, exhibitors and attendees for helping make AUTOTESTCON 2012 a success. We had a pretty full exhibit hall, a solid technical program with outstanding authors and papers, and highly qualified attendees of the technical program. We received numerous compliments on our private Wednesday evening dinner and entertainment event at Cars Land in Disney’s California Adventure theme park, as attendees got to experience this brand new addition to the Disney stable of solid family entertainment.

We received great feedback from attendees on the quality of the technical program and the effectiveness of the overall organization.

Was it as big a success as in prior years? Frankly no, it wasn’t, mainly due to the lack of government authors, exhibitors and attendees of prior years due to the highly restrictive conference participation policies out in place during the late summer of 2012. Nearly everyone is aware of the unfortunate circumstances surrounding this situation so it serves no useful purpose to delve deeper, but your organizers did the best they could in adjusting the program and events to accommodate a slightly smaller attendance. Will this continue as we move forward to AUTOTESTCON 2013 and beyond? No-one knows at this point, but we are all hopeful that cooler heads will prevail in government and realize that some conferences, such as IEEE AUTOTESTCON, serve a highly useful purpose in select communities in bringing together users and developers of military products for the mutual benefit of all involved, resulting in greater efficiencies, improved capability, and better support of our warfighters and their essential equipment. We will hope for the best.

Best wishes to all, and we hope to see you at IEEE AUTOTESTCON 2013, September 16-19, 2013, in Schaumberg IL.

On behalf of the entire IEEE AUTOTESTCON 2012 organizing committee,

Bob Rassa, Raytheon
General Chair,
IEEE AUTOTESTCON 2012

Call for Papers - PDF Download

AUTOTESTCON is the largest conference focused on support systems for military and aerospace systems, and is sponsored annually by the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE).  IEEE AUTOTESTCON 2013 conference will be held September 16-19, 2013 at the  Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel in Schaumburg, Illinois.

The technical program for AUTOTESTCON 2013 will be determined by the interests of those participants submitting technical papers or organizing a technical session on an appropriate topic dealing with  System Readiness, in general, and  Automatic Test Technology, in particular.

The Theme for AUTOTESTCON 2013, "ATS Innovation in the Era of Challenging Budgets", reflects the focus of the technical program on the transformations happening right now in the way DoD and industry perform maintenance.

Technical papers are now being solicited, as are proposals for technical sessions, addressing topics such as:

  • Innovations in ATE & TPS
  • Software Tools
  • Next Generation Test Systems
  • Closed-Loop Diagnostics
  • Standardization
  • Life Cycle Cost Reduction
  • TPS Transportability
  • Logistics and Management
  • Reusable Software
  • Interoperability
  • Modeling, Reasoning, Simulation
  • MOSA
  • Commercial Systems
  • System Health Monitoring
  • Multinational Support
  • Wireless Applications
  • Instrumentation and Measurement
  • Research and Development

Student Paper Contest

AUTOTESTCON 2013 will conduct a Student Paper Contest for both graduate and undergraduate student papers within the topic scope. Cash awards of $500 will be presented for the best papers in both categories plus cash awards of $400 for 2nd place papers in both categories. Please pay careful attention to all instructions for manuscript preparation and make sure the paper is identified as either a Graduate or Undergraduate Student Paper when submitting the final paper. In addition, student travel subsidies ranging from $300 to $1000 depending on student location will be provided to as many students as possible courtesy of the IEEE Instrumentation & Measurement Society.

Students must attend the conference and present their paper in order to receive a travel subsidy or best paper award. Travel award winners are selected by the Technical Program Chairs from the abstract submissions and will be notified via email. The best paper awards are chosen by the Technical Program Chairs during the paper review process and are based solely on the written paper. Best paper award winners will be announced at the Awards Banquet on Thursday during the conference.

Instructions for Submitting Final Papers

The Conference Proceedings will be included in the IEEE Interactive Electronic Library (IEL) as part of IEEE Xplore. All authors who have been accepted must register for the conference and attend the conference to present their paper. Authors who do not attend the conference to present their papers, or arrange for a co-author or knowledgeable colleague to present their paper in the absence of the primary author, will not have their paper published in the IEEE IEL and IEEE Xplore, per latest IEEE policy.

1. Prepare the final version of the manuscript using the paper templates linked below.

Paper Templates

REMEMBER: the final version of a paper in the format given above CANNOT EXCEED 10 PAGES. NO EXCEPTION IS ALLOWED.

Click the My Papers tab. Click the upload icon (third column from the right) and a dialog box will open that will enable you to select and upload your paper via the web or via FTP.

4.3. Fill in and sign the IEEE Copyright Transfer form.
The IEEE is enforcing strict copyright rules. For your convenience, the copyright form is made available electronically through EDAS. To access the copyright form, click on the 'My Papers' tab and then click on the copyright icon under the copyright column (second column from the right). Authors who are not authorized to sign a copyright transfer form, should download the paper version of a copyright transfer form, fill it in, and ask an authorized person to sign it. Then, send the completed form to the AUTOTESTCON 2013 Administrator by fax: +1 (352) 872 5545.
NO PAPER WILL BE PUBLISHED WITHOUT THE SUBMITTED COPYRIGHT FORM.

4.4. Prepare the presenter's biography form.
Please declare who will be presenting the paper at the conference on EDAS. To do this, click the 'My Papers' tab, click on your paper title, and then click the Change/Add icon in the Presenter row.
